Florida International University’s campus is just that much more charming thanks to the melodic magic of the HEARTbeats.

Founded in early 2014 by Honors student Kamila Manzueta (with the help of Honors fellow and faculty mentor Janet McDaniel), the HEARTbeats have one goal: leave a musical mark on the university by sharing their voices and passions through song.

Our Executive Board of dedicated members has assimilated a talented bunch of singers to create this rising, enthusiastic group. Peek in on any one of their weekly practices and be prepared for two things in great quantities: music and fun. Even though perfecting their pieces is no laughing matter, smiles and jokes are plentiful among these singers.

Most recently, HEARTbeats has been honored to have received the award for Outstanding Choreography at the 2022 ICCA South Quarterfinals. HEARTbeats has been the recipients of the FIU Outstanding Shining Star Group Award for their contribution to the university and surrounding community. We have also performed at Zoo Lights Miami several times.

When they aren’t winning awards or going for the gold, the HEARTbeats can be found at any number of university happenings like student and faculty convocations, internationally significant club events, charity programs, and graduation ceremonies. They’ll be the ones singing their hearts out.
